Robust synthetic methods that show a broad substrate scope are of great utility in the synthesis complex organic molecules. Within this arena, employ boronic esters especially useful because they undergo wide variety transformations with very high levels stereoselectivity. In particular, can single or multiple homologations using enantioenriched metal carbenoids. The addition suitable lithium magnesium carbenoid to ester, subsequent 1,2-migration, gives homologated ester stereocontrol.
